“The Promised” Land
Yesterday we saw the PROMISE that God had given to Abram and today we will look at the LAND. The land of Canaan was promised to Abraham and his seed. (Genesis 12:1-7, 13:14-17, 15:18-21, 17:8, Deuteronomy 12:9-10, Psalm 105:11) The Promise is then renewed to Isaac in Genesis 26:3.
Thinking back to Lesson 5 & 6, where does this land get its name? (Also see Genesis 10:6, 9:22, 10:15-18)
The territory of Canaan extended from Sidon in the north to Gerar and Gaza in the south, and east as far as Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, near Lasha. (Genesis 10:19 NLT) The boundaries of Canaan are also described in different parts of Scripture. (Exodus 23:31, Numbers 13:29, 34)
