Kickoff day!!!

Today is the day we have been anticipating! We pray asking for unity within the body of Devoted. Thank you Lord, for the diversity that exists among the women who gather among us on Monday nights. Thank you that through saving faith, you inhabit us, and you move through us and within us. Conform us to the image of Jesus this semester, Holy Spirit, through the study of your Word, through our worship, through our prayer, through our time in our small groups, through our going in and our coming out. We want to live like you. We want to love like you.

Day 21

Holy Spirit, we come asking you to help us to grow deeper in intimacy with you this semester through the spiritual discipline of prayer. Help us internalize your Word then utter your Word back to you. Help us to claim the promises you have given us and speak truth and life over our lives and those around us. May we come to the Father like Jesus-when we are full of joy, when we are in agony, when we make major decisions. Help us to pray at all times in all things. Teach us to pray, Lord Jesus. Help us to enjoy prayer as you do.

“Prayer is the chief exercise of faith.” -Calvin

Day 20

God, we pray and ask that you wake us up. Revive and renew our hearts, minds, spirits, and bodies. Wake us up to your glory, majesty and wonder. Jesus you came to set us free, you have conquered death and have enveloped us in your marvelous light. Awaken us and help us to put on our strength and our beautiful garments. Help us to humbly wear the robes of righteousness that you have given to us. Help us to shine your light, Jesus, and show the world your glory. Wake us from our sleep.

-The glory of God is man fully alive. St. Irenaeus

Day 19

Jesus, we believe, help us with our unbelief. When life gets hard we ask that You use everything for our good to restore, confirm, strengthen and establish us in Your truth. Lord, regardless of our failures, our apathy, our persecution and suffering. Regardless of our thoughts, our feelings or our inability to understand, we declare that You are doing a good work.

Day 18

Holy Spirit we ask that Your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control abound in Devoted this semester. We pray against the works of the flesh in every life of every believer. Let us live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, or envying one another.

DAY 17

Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, we pray for the directors and leaders in Devoted. May they correctly explain the Word of Truth. Help them to teach and lead in a way that honors Your name and moves us to unhindered worship and freedom. Rid them of pride and judgment. Let their words be carefully chosen and void of empty chatter and worthless words. Let them rise to the standard of leadership that Your Word has given and see the work in the Kingdom of Heaven as the privilege that it is.

DAY 16

Wonderful Counselor, thank you for leading us through dark and dry times in our lives just as you led the Israelites through the desert.  Lord, help us to make this new year all about You.  Give us a renewed hunger for Your word and fellowship with Your church.  Let us long to seek Your face and Your will rather than the approval of others.  Help us to throw off the sin that easily entangles and to choose repentance each day.  Consecrate us with Your love, that we might be wholly dedicated to You.  Amen

Day 15

Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, use every bit of what You reveal and impart to us this semester to sanctify our thoughts, emotions and actions. Help us to not only see the Truth but to think it, believe it and walk in it. We ask that You grow us in faith and also in obedience.

Day 14

Father, we ask that You help us to understand Your Law, help us to see through the study of Exodus how much You love us, how much You care about every part of our lives. We ask that You make known to us the mystery of Your will that is now revealed in Jesus Christ. Help us connect the dots and be filled with awe and wonder of Your Word. When we question or struggle to understand, remind us that You are responsible for our spiritual growth and enlightenment.

DAY 13

God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, please impart to us the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation. Give us a deep and personal and intimate insight into the true knowledge of who You are and what You have done. Remind us that we must meet with You in fervent prayer and study to experience and live the life You have made available to us.

DAY 12

Heavenly Father,
As we prepare for another bible study we pray that we remember your character. You are all knowing…You know where we are struggling, our triumphs and our disappointments, the way we are spread thin, and where we feel lonely and lost, and victorious and confident. You know it all Lord and you know where Satan may tempt us to not stay committed. You made a covenant with your people, we made a covenant to you and to our sisters. May we comprehend the gravity of your devotion to us through your covenant and in turn take the covenant we made to you in the same light. Help us to not put you in a box, but to search for your mystery, wonder, love, commitment, devotion and care for us… your chosen ones, your royal children. Prepare our hearts God to see you so we can come into this bible study focused and prepared to discover all the goodness you have for us!

Day 11

Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, we ask that You create in us a love for one another. Help us to love one another as You have loved us. May the love that we have for one another at Devoted be a testament of Your love and our devotion to You.

Day 10

Blessed Lord thank you for who you are. You are majestic in wonder and power. You are Creator of heaven and earth. You are at work in my life and hold the entire world in your hands. Just as you work, You have called me to work- to be fruitful and multiply, to go into all the world, to feed your sheep and tend your pasture. Yet you call me to stop. You call me be still. Help me to cease striving and know that you are God. Holy Spirit help me to stop working to earn your favor and to know that I am dearly loved and cherished no matter what. Help me to do the work that matters-Loving you and those around me.

Day 9

Father, thank you for being the author and perfector of my faith (Hebrews 12:2). I was dead in my sin, but through Jesus I am a new creation. God, may I not be like the Israelites grumbling in the wilderness longing for slavery again. Instead, may I remember that You have brought me through the wilderness. May I have a heart posture of genuine gratitude. May my life reflect your goodness, your faithfulness, and your gentleness. Thank you for the struggles for they indeed strengthen my faith and dependence on you, Lord. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Day 8

Father, thank you that we do not have to earn your favor, love, or salvation. Thank you for being a God of grace, love, and mercy. Father, as we study, remind us to not get caught up in the right answer, but to be caught up in you, the only way, the only truth, and the only life! May we rest in you blessed assurance. Thank you that we don’t need to perform for you in any way; instead all you ask is that we come wholly to you, surrendering all we are and all we do. Thank you, Lord! Amen
