*NOTE: When the 10 commandments were mentioned I should have said the first five were more rooted in maturity and the last five were rooted in morality! I said them the opposite!

Do you currently observe regular sabbath rest?
Why or why not?
For a little ten commandment refresher, read Exodus 20:1-17. Maybe you choose to write them in your journal…
v.8 “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.”
Observing the sabbath is a command.
Just like not coveting, stealing, or killing, the command to observe the sabbath hasn’t gone out the window.
Ultimately it was ordained for OUR GOOD, and GOD’S GLORY.
After reading the passages for today and answering the questions in your workbook, what would implementing a sabbath rest look like for you?
When the world is telling you to go-go-go, work-work-work, or build-build-build, God is inviting you to STOP.
To REST.
“I’m working six days a week, and on Monday - which is the day I take off - I’m putting my feet up and not thinking in terms of work. But rather, I pray at the beginning of the day, ‘Lord, whatever happens today, may it be energizing for Tuesday. May it be energizing for the week that’s coming. Give me strength, give me energy.’”
John Piper in “What Does It Mean Practically to Keep the Sabbath Holy?” (good read or listen)
Does this quote, and way of thinking, help you to form some idea of the purpose of a sabbath?
Talk to God about Sabbath today. Talk to your spouse, your kids, your parents(if you are younger), about it. Do some reading in the Word concerning sabbath. Look up some articles to read. (make sure they are trustworthy, DesiringGod.org is a good place to go. You can type Sabbath into the search bar on their site.)
What is your response to this command?
As always, take some time to work through A.C.T.S. or something similar to search your heart and mind and to give God praise!

Take a couple minutes and go outside today, and look at the complexity of God’s creation all around you. Consider the leaves on the tree, the ground beneath your feet, the clouds in the sky. The sun, the moon, the stars. God created it ALL for our enjoyment. When is the last time you stopped to consider that as you have gone about your day?

To help supplement your thoughts as you answer Day 1 Questions in your workbook…
God “Elohim”- Supreme -or- Mighty One
The word “Elohim” is a PLURAL noun used as if it were singular.
Created “bara”- created from nothing -or- reforming from existing materials.
Anytime this word “bara” is used in the perfect verb tense, it refers ONLY to God creating. It signifies God’s divine creation of something strikingly NEW.

ASK GOD and BELIEVE HE WILL ANSWER ACCORDING TO HIS GOODNESS AND WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOU!
'So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”'
