Genesis 14 Review

memorize god’s word

write ephesians 6:10-11

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Consider the memory verse for this week.

In what ways do you put on the armor of God each day? How does it benefit you? What is the result when you do not “put it on”?

Take some time and record in the comments how you have seen God’s activity during the week. (How has He provided, answered, comforted, reconciled, guided, etc.?)

What attributes of God stood out to you this week during your study?

How will you continue to live in light of these truths?

Spend some time simply PRAISING GOD FOR WHO HE IS- let’s flood the comments with His praise!

Genesis 14:21-24

Answer question #20 from your study book in the comments section of this post.

Has there been a time in your life when you had to choose between the riches of the world and the things of God? Will you share what influenced your choice?

What are the dangers of choosing the riches of the world? What are the benefits of choosing the things of God?

Genesis 14:17-20

To build on #12 in your study book…

a. Which of God’s qualities and deeds did Melchizedek publicly proclaim in blessing Abram?

b. Whom can you thank for offering God’s grace and blessing to you? How will you thank God for them? (share your answer in the comments)

Answer #13 from your book in the comments as well- This gift helped Abram put his victory in proper perspective. Why was this important? Why is it tempting to take credit when it belongs to the Lord when we experience victories in our lives?

The teaching for Lesson 8 will be posted on the podcast rather than combined with Lesson 9 this time! This will allow adequate explanation on both Lessons and honestly makes it much easier for us as teachers! PLUS it means not staying late again :P So this week please comment and interact here on the website because we also won’t be spending much time on this lesson in small group time!

I don’t know about you, but answering the questions in the study book were pretty difficult for me on this day! Putting together who was doing what and when was going completely over my head!

Try reading the passage in the New Living Translation(NLT) today, if you find yourself getting hung up on details!

Answers for…
#1 can be found in Verse 1

#2 can be found in Verse 2

#3 can be found in Verses 3&4

Lastly, fill in the blanks!

'Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the , for he dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner; and they were allies with Abram. '
Genesis 14:13

Why do you think the author chose to label Abram in this verse? (We will cover it more in the teaching time!)

Share with the group your answer from #8 IN THE COMMENTS, if you are comfortable doing so!

Can you recall and share a time when God rescued you from a difficult or dangerous situation of your own making?
